About the event
Speculative Flesh is a one-day intensive laboratory positioning the body as a site of theoretical inquiry and future-making. Drawing from Afro-futurist thought, Black feminist thought, Black performance theory, and somatic research practices, participants interrogate the instability of “flesh” as fixed, biological, or singular.
Through movement scores, speculative writing, ritual structures, and performative experiments, we destabilize normative understandings of embodiment and engage the body as:
Archive
Interface
Time machine
Political terrain
Generative technology
This lab privileges process over product and inquiry over choreography.
